Laura Ash
Laura Ash is a Clinical Herbalist, conservation enthusiast, and social entrepreneur with over two decades years of experience in herbal medicine. Growing up in the Sierras of Northern California, she nurtured her love for the arts and a deep connection with nature. Since 2000, Laura has been dedicated to practicing western herbal medicine and is committed to lifelong learning.
After living in the UK and East Africa, Laura felt a sacred obligation to support Indigenous Peoples in their health sovereignty. In 2011, she founded the Herbal Anthropology Project, a nonprofit that protects Maasai Traditional Medicine in Tanzania through the Traditional Knowledge Division of the World Intellectual Property Organization.
In 2015, Laura acquired The Scarlet Sage Herb Co. in San Francisco, continuing the legacy of this iconic healing store until its closure in 2024. In 2021, she launched Land of Verse, an online wellness education marketplace designed to elevate trusted voices in the healing arts. This platform offers Masterclass-style classes that engage individuals at all levels on their journeys into holistic healing. Laura is currently working with Indigenous and Local Communities around the world with Integrative Physicians to do preservation and plant research as the Director of Operations at the Beneficial Plant Research Association.
Laura is passionate about blending traditional wisdom with modern practices, crafting engaging experiences that support wellness in everyday life. She has been a guest lecturer at universities and public schools, promoting diversity and well-being, and has facilitated wellness retreats and workshops for corporate partners such as Google, Softbank, Ideo, Four Seasons, and Auberge Resorts.
Now residing in Oakland with her wife, two children, and two doodles, Laura continues to inspire others through her work in the healing arts.
